About the Artist
在1943年⽣于彭亨⽂德甲的叶逢仪,早年受教育于尊孔中学,受恩师启蒙,习画多年。1959年,他参加了国家主办之全国少年绘画赛,并荣获⼤奖。1966年,叶逢仪赴⽇本东京留学,8年期间曾进⼊东京艺术⼤学当研究⽣并专修⽇本画,师从⽥中⻘坪、平⼭郁夫先⽣。之后,他考进早稻⽥⼤学⽂学部美术史学科,主修东洋美术四年,获学⼠后。留学期间,他在⽇本东京、名古屋等10个地⽅举办个展数⼗次。1974年回国后,叶逢仪致⼒推⼴美术教育,设⽴了艺术中⼼教导⽔墨画、⼉童美术等,并继续在新加坡、吉隆坡、台北、曼⾕、东京各地举办个展60余次。1990 年,他受邀参加深圳第⼆届国际⽔墨画展及研讨会。1994年,他前往北京中央美术学院进修花⻦画。现任⻢来西亚雪隆⽔墨画会会⻓、国际现代⽔墨画联盟会员的叶逢仪,作品为⻢来西亚国家画廊、早稻⽥⼤学以及海内外收藏家所收藏。
In 1959, Yap Hong Ngee won the grand prize in the National Youth Art Competition. In 1966, Yap headed to Tokyo, Japan and studied there for 8 years. At the Tokyo University of the Arts, he was taught Japanese arts by established artists such as Seihyo Tanaka and Hirayama Ikuo. After that, he went to Waseda University, majoring in Japanese Art History. During his time in Japan, Yap has held numerous solo exhibitions across 10 regions, including Tokyo and Nagoya. Yap has been dedicated to promoting art education since returning to Malaysia and organised more than 60 solo exhibitions in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Bangkok and more. In 1990, Yap was invited to the 2nd edition of the International Chinese Ink Painting Exhibition & Seminar in Shenzhen, China. In 1994, Yap refined his floral and bird painting skills at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts, China. The National Art Gallery collects Yap’s artworks, Waseda University as well as local and overseas collectors.
